Senior Product Designer

Department: Technical | Teamwork HQ, Cork, Ireland

About us

At Teamwork, we pride ourselves on creating the best software, working with outstanding people, and going above and beyond for our customers. That excellence has been rewarded with hundreds of thousands of amazing customers all across the globe and millions of users who sign in every day to trust us with getting their businesses organized and running productively.

We’re a profitable, entirely self-funded business with no investors or outside influences beyond one: our customers and what's best for them. It’s a responsibility that we take very seriously. We’re a company of action, full of triers and doers: we try things, we make mistakes, and we learn from them.

Growing this company from Cork with an extremely talented team of people is an amazing journey to be a part of. We’re a place to work unlike any other, and our incredible campus is a testament to our unique, creative way of doing things: see for yourself.

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to put the user at the center of everything that we do. You will become a key contributor on all aspects of design and deliver a world class product that delivers functional & practical excellence and a world class experience for our customers.

What will I be doing?

Work with the Product Team to design product functionality, aesthetics, and user experience consistent with the standards in the full product suite in Teamwork. Contribute to the definition of shared patterns, processes and standards across the Product Team.

Work through design problems from beginning to end, translating product discovery research into concepts. Provide required input for the design of all phases of a product lifecycle. Work closely with product managers, engineers and other designers as you build, iterate on, and ship ideas.

Sketch and prototype ideas to quickly assess their viability, and design the required solution. Develop workable prototypes where required that enable the testing of ideas through iterative experiments to enable fast validation and feedback.

Conduct extensive research to discover users’ needs and what are the elements of design that work and could be adopted, improved and incorporated into our products.

Ensure product design is central to the customer’s journey and how they interact with the product and company as a whole.

Provide design support for product discovery, experiments and delivery work

Discovery: articulate research questions; formulate hypotheses, design and execute experiments, create prototypes; synthesize research findings; frame problems to be solved

Delivery: iterate designs; create prototypes; polish and perform designs, collaborate with product team to deliver optimal solution

What skills and experience do I need?

Proficient at the craft of product design, visual design, typography, and interaction design. Able to execute and deliver both divergent design explorations and polished UI design.

Proven track record of working independently and as part of a highly collaborative team. Able to work well in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively, and remain open to feedback from people in a variety of disciplines.

Good understanding of user-centred design and the importance of applying data and user research to your designs.

Ability to pose and frame questions back to the team. Experience exploring problem spaces and working with cross-functional teams to define the most important problems to be solved.

Experiment minded. We view most product design work as an experiment. This has a couple of important implications. One, you’ll work quickly, producing lots of variations to test lots of hypotheses — but the work may not last. Two, when the team identifies a clear winner and wishes to roll it out, the work you produce must be high-enough quality to be experienced in the product for all users.

Experience optimizing product experiences for goal conversions. Proven ability to design solutions to enable Users to easily achieve user goals.

Comfortable context switching. The product designer will need to be comfortable switching between business goals, audiences, and phases of the product development lifecycle (discovery experiments versus polished designs for delivery, for example).

Able to adapt to fluid processes. Design is sometimes fractured between different groups on the product team. While we all strive to work together as one cross-functional team, there are times when ownership may be fuzzy or decision-making unclear. We’re seeking a designer who is not possessive about ideas and UX decision-making authority and who will contribute to shaping the overall product development process.

Comfortable with constraints. We’re seeking a designer who is comfortable with some constraints, who won’t get bummed if they hear, “We can do this, but not right now.”

Comfortable in a native design environment. Ability to design polished, high-fidelity mock-ups of your solutions using modern design tools such as Sketch.

Ability to create interactive prototypes using tools like Framer, Invision, and Keynote, or in the browser with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
